Two people were stabbed to death in the 11300 block of East Colfax Avenue on Monday night, according to Aurora police.

Officers were in the 11200 block of East Colfax Avenue at 8 p.m. Monday when a passerby told them a man was lying in the street nearby at East Colfax Avenue and Lima Street.

Officers performed life-saving measures and the man, 44-year-old Desmond Thomas, was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

While responding to the scene, additional officers learned of a second stabbing victim in the 11300 block of East Colfax Avenue who was unconscious and unresponsive, according to the Aurora Police Department. Officers also attempted to save the victim, 58-year-old Otto Washington.

Washington was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Police interviewed two people of interest in the case Tuesday. One was released and the second was arrested on unrelated arrest warrants.
