The pilot of a small plane made an emergency landing on an open field in Douglas County Saturday morning, the plane flipped after touching down.

The pilot of a Cessna 172S and a passenger escaped injury, South Metro Fire Rescue said on X at 6:47 a.m.

The hard landing happened south of Lincoln Avenue and east of Oswego Street on the Meridian Golf Course. No fire or fuel spill occurred. The plane departed runway 17R at Centennial Airport prior to the emergency landing.

The aircraft flipped over about 50 yards after touching down, South Metro Fire Rescue said. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.
